Solar hot water systems, also known as solar thermal, use solar panels to convert the sun’s energy into hot water. They offer a virtually carbon free solution to generating solar hot water.
- Virtually free hot water from solar energy
- Government incentive worth £1,329*
- Governement grant worth between £300 - £1,000 (called the Renewable Heat Premium Payment)
- Save £60-£85 on your annual energy bills according to the Energy Saving Trust
- Safeguard against future electricity price increases
- Feel good about lowering your carbon footprint
* The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is the world’s first long-term financial support program for renewable heat. The proposed scheme is due to launch in August 2013; however, systems installed after July 2009 are proposed to qualify. It is recommended that the government will pay individuals 17.3p per kWh for 7 years. For a standard 2 panel system, this means £190 per year and a total of £1,329 over the 7 years support period.
